One of the leading British violinists of the younger generation, Thomas Gould combines a busy solo career with orchestral leading and directing.

As concerto soloist Thomas has performed in Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland, and throughout the United Kingdom with conductors including Nicholas Collon, Michael Francis, Nicholas Kraemer, John Rutter and Robin Ticciati. He has given the world premières of Nico Muhly’s concerto for electric violin and Christopher Ball’s violin concerto, also recording the latter for Omnibus Classics. Of this recording The Strad writes: “Gould makes a ravishing sound on a 1754 Gagliano, sustaining the concerto’s melodic lines with a noble assurance and heart-warming intensity that compels throughout.”

Thomas wanted to update his website with a new look, his latest recordings and reviews, and have it all in a system that made it easy for him to update and manage.

The Beethoven Ensemble is a young and exciting orchestra in Cambridge, England. The orchestra brings together the finest players of the University with recent graduates studying at music conservatoires and working as professional musicians. The aim of the orchestra is to build links between young talented players and the professional music world; by giving intimate concerts at exceptionally high levels we provide exposure and opportunities for musicians, not to mention world-class performances to our audiences.

They needed a website to promote their concerts, raise sponsorship, sell tickets, allow people to join their email list, read reviews, advertise on Facebook, YouTube and more. We built a stylish site that reflects the professionalism of the group.

Recently described as a ‘remarkable talent’ for her performance of Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante with violinist Tasmin Little, twenty-one year old British violist Rosalind Ventris is quickly emerging as one of the most promising young artists of her generation.

Rosalind performs regularly as a soloist and chamber musician in the UK, and has played in venues such as Conway Hall, St.John’s Smith Square, St.Martin-in-the-Fields, and the Wigmore Hall. She performs increasingly throughout Europe: at the Emiglia Romagna Festival in Italy, and the Saint-Mere Festival in France. She made her concerto debut with the Purcell Chamber Orchestra at St.John’s Smith Square in 2007, conducted by Ian Jewel, with Hindemith’s Viola Concerto “Der Schwanendreher”. She has since frequently performed as a concerto soloist: recently, Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante with Tasmin Little, Hindemith’s Trauermusik with the EUCO, Bartok’s viola concerto with Thomas Blunt and CUCO, Bruch’s Double Concerto with Tom Gould, Daniel Hill, and the Beethoven Ensemble, and Walton’s Viola Concerto with Peter Stark and CUMS I.

Founded back in 1968, what was originally Edinburgh University Opera Club formed under the guidance of University professors and lecturers. Its aim was much as it is now, to perform high standard opera. The first performance was a UK premiere of Monteverdi’s opera L’Orfeo. In the last 37 years, the society has undergone much change. For some time now the society has been run by students alone with great success. Also, the society has changed its name throughout the years finally ending up with its present name: Edinburgh Studio Opera (ESO).

They needed a classy and engaging new site to promote their 2009/10 season of operas, get people involved in the society and try and raise money for productions. We used WordPress as a cost-effective starting point, and then built a bunch of CMS features on top.

Ali and Charlotte Reid are two of the most talented young musicians around, and it was a great pleasure building a site for them. Currently in their early twenties, Alexandra and Charlotte Reid have been performing violin duets together for over fifteen years. While at school both sisters led the National Children’s Orchestra before going on to lead the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain from 2004-2006. As a Violin Duo they have given numerous recitals, including for the Amersham Festival, Wendover Music Society, Wooburn Festival, Little Missenden Festival AGM, and for Maidenhead Music Society at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts. They have also given a series of performances in Cambridge at venues such as Kettle’s Yard, West Road Concert Hall, and the Fitzwilliam Museum.

Their site is bold, fresh and bright, promoting their music and upcoming concerts.

The group was established in 2007 in London, and is beginning to carve a reputation as accomplished exponents of not only the standard cello ensemble repertory, but also a diverse array of specially commissioned arrangements and adaptations. They wanted a slick, engaging site to promote their music and concerts. It also needed to be great value and easy to update, so we used WordPress to handle the main CMS tasks. The design is built around their vibrant publicity photos.
