One of the leading British violinists of the younger generation, Thomas Gould combines a busy solo career with orchestral leading and directing.

As concerto soloist Thomas has performed in Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland, and throughout the United Kingdom with conductors including Nicholas Collon, Michael Francis, Nicholas Kraemer, John Rutter and Robin Ticciati. He has given the world premières of Nico Muhly’s concerto for electric violin and Christopher Ball’s violin concerto, also recording the latter for Omnibus Classics. Of this recording The Strad writes: “Gould makes a ravishing sound on a 1754 Gagliano, sustaining the concerto’s melodic lines with a noble assurance and heart-warming intensity that compels throughout.”

Thomas wanted to update his website with a new look, his latest recordings and reviews, and have it all in a system that made it easy for him to update and manage.

Improvement and Efficiency South East (IESE) is one of nine Regional Improvement and Efficiency Partnerships (RIEPs) and was established to work with the south east’s 74 local authorities and 9 fire authorities to facilitate and fund projects that will drive efficiencies and service improvements across the region.

Themes include adult social care and services for children, capacity building , construction and asset management, corporate transformation, performance improvement, procurement, progress through partnership and waste resource management.

In year one, IESE enabled councils in the south east to make £18.5million cashable savings and estimates over £40m cashable savings in year two. IESE is governed democratically by members across the south east and managed by a south east chief executives’ board.

We worked with them to create a new, more engaging and easy to use site that allows members of the public and local councilors to quickly access the latest tools and news available.

The Beethoven Ensemble is a young and exciting orchestra in Cambridge, England. The orchestra brings together the finest players of the University with recent graduates studying at music conservatoires and working as professional musicians. The aim of the orchestra is to build links between young talented players and the professional music world; by giving intimate concerts at exceptionally high levels we provide exposure and opportunities for musicians, not to mention world-class performances to our audiences.

They needed a website to promote their concerts, raise sponsorship, sell tickets, allow people to join their email list, read reviews, advertise on Facebook, YouTube and more. We built a stylish site that reflects the professionalism of the group.

Version 2 includes a total rewrite in Ruby on Rails, loads of new features, a new design by our friends at LookTouchFeel, and more.

CrashPadder is a global community that enables travellers to stay with like-minded people for a fair price, and enables hosts to earn cash from their extra space. It gives everyone a chance to meet new people without the cost of a hotel, or the discomfort of a hostel.

“Crashpadder.com is a glorious, utopian ideal borne out of a simple desire to travel around, without having to pay a kings ransom for a place to lay your head.

The idea for Crashpadder.com first presented itself to a young dragon slayer from the days of yore*. He would travel the country hither and thither, yonder and yonderer still, slaying dragons willy nilly and surprisingly (given the danger involved) was paid relatively little.

Then one night, as he slept valiantly – though uncomfortably – in a bush at the side of a road, the dragon slayer was visited by an astronaut from the future. Not knowing what an astronaut from the future would look like he assumed it was an angel -but that’s irrelevant to the rest of the story.”

CrashPadder was a large and pretty complex project, pulling together many technologies and areas of expertise. There are tens of thousands of lines of code powering the site, doing everything from the search algorithm, the booking process, and user registration process, to the embeddable JavaScript people can use to promote their rooms and the powerful statistics engine giving a breakdown of the site’s performance.
The design we kept pretty simple, with clear navigation and emphasis on usability. We also wrote a nifty little facebook app that allows people to promote their rooms there too.

We’re really proud of this one!

The Global Student Education Forum is an independent non-partisan student-led initiative. Its ultimate goal is to provide an on-line platform where students and alumni of universities around the world can engage in meaningful discussion and debate on education theories, policies and practices. Each year, the Forum also aims to organise guest speaker seminars and social events where members can further extend their social and professional network.

They wanted a website to form the basis of their network – members can post articles, lesson plans, news, conferences, job vacancies and social events. Given the vast nature of the topics covered we had to find a simple way of grouping and displaying the various topics up for discussion. We combined this with a modern, bold design, and a powerful backend.

WoolSafe is a world-wide organisation dedicated to the promotion of quality care for wool and synthetic carpets and rugs through tested and approved products, accredited companies and services, and comprehensive information and professional training.

The original WoolSafe programme for carpet care products was initiated by the International Wool Secretariat (now: The Woolmark Company) in 1990, launched in 1991, and transferred to Wools of New Zealand in July 1994. In October 1998 the WoolSafe name and Mark were acquired by The WoolSafe Organisation, incorporated in England as WoolSafe Ltd.

They wanted their site totally redesigning and overhauling to improve business and make the site more useful to visitors. We started by re-structuring their content into a simple navigation system, and brought all their content into standards compliant, easy to read XHTML. We then added a colourful bright design, Google maps, a clever search algorithm, and a few sheep.

For almost two hundred years, the Cambridge Union Society has stood as a vibrant centre of debate and free speech in British intellectual life. The Society is fiercely independent and has often been at the centre of controversy; shortly after its founding in 1815 it was temporarily closed down by the University for being too contentious. With its own bar, library and cinema facilities, it has become an integral part of student life in Cambridge.

They needed a totally new website that was both easy to use and yet full of detail about their rich and varied calendar of events: debates, yoga, speakers, wine tasting, conference hire and more. The whole site needed to integrate with their existing technologies and servers, be updateable by the committee (which changes every term) and the office staff.

Plus, new members can join online with PayPal, and have their membership cards ready to collect from the office with their details encoded.

Cambridge University Opera Society (CUOS) exists to organise, advise and encourage operatic activities within the university, including staged productions, masterclasses, workshops, concert performances, recitals, talks, opera trips to London and social events.

By bringing together those with the different skills and interests involved in opera, be they musical, dramatic, artistic, technical or organisational, CUOS provides a focus for the wealth of talent, energy, and experience in Cambridge. Few student activities are so ambitious – or rewarding – as opera.

CUOS has a distinguished history of bringing new works to audiences, as well as conceiving fresh presentations of well-known operas, from the British premiere of Berlioz’s Beatrice and Benedict in 1967 to Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro in 2006, with a new English translation by Jeremy Sams. In 2003–4, the student productions in Cambridge were a double bill of undergraduate chamber operas, Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, Mozart’s The Magic Flute and Britten’s Peter Grimes. In 2004-5, the society staged two major English-language productions: Britten’s The Turn of the Screw and Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress. A highly successful run of Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel (2007) was followed by a sell-out, contemporary interpretation of Don Giovanni in Lent Term 2008. This year’s opera is Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin.

They needed a website to show off their great work, allow people to join the society, and to promote their upcoming operas, masterclasses and trips.
